Summary
The Employment Resource Worker is responsible for completing inquiry contacts with prospective applicants. The employee will provide training to both new and approved resource homes, and complete safe assessments and annual assessments.

Key Responsibilities of Position
- Provide local labour market information based on contacts with clients, community groups and employers
- Promote and market specific interventions for funding under Ministry Training, Colleges & Universities (MOLTSD) through Employment Ontario
- Disseminate information concerning services, programs and local labour market conditions to Employment Ontario clients
- Complete needs assessments to review a client’s employment situation, identify and clarify employment barriers and develop a return to work action plan that includes R&I, Job Search, Job Matching, Placement & Incentives, Job/Training Retention & referral to Other Employment Ontario Programs (e.g. Second Career, JCP, Apprenticeship)
- Provide employment counselling to assist clients identify and resolve issues in making and carrying out employment-related decisions, define client’s realistic employment goals, identify activities needed to achieve goals
- Agree upon and commit to an action plan intended to move the client towards employment and provide appropriate follow-up and support as client works through the return to work action plan
- Enter the client data, action plan, the interventions and the results in CAMS
- Submit client’s appropriate applications and recommendation for MTCU approval
- Case manage clients for Service Canada programs (e.g. Skills Development for disabled, Youth Skills Link)
- Maintain statistical data for target achievement
- Other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Proficiency in word processing programs and Social Assistance or Employment Ontario software
- Good working knowledge of the full range of programs delivered by the CDSSAB including; Ontario Works, Child Care and Social Housing.
Education & Experience
- University degree in Social Sciences OR a two-year College Diploma in Social Sciences with related experience OR a combination of education/experience acceptable to the employer
- Two years of experience in social services, preferably in the delivery of income maintenance and employment programs

- Bilingualism in accordance with the French Language Services policy
