An Outreach Counsellor supports individuals and families by providing guidance, referrals, and crisis intervention. They connect clients with essential resources such as housing, employment, and mental health services while raising community awareness. They foster a supportive environment through advocacy and outreach, empowering families to overcome challenges and thrive.
An Events Coordinator within an Outreach Counsellor role plans and organizes community events, workshops, and programs to promote engagement and well-being. They manage logistics, collaborate with partners, and ensure families access resources while tracking and improving event effectiveness.
The ultimate goal of this role is to empower families, promote well-being, and foster a supportive community environment through dedicated outreach and resource coordination.
Qualifications:
Two-year college diploma in the Human Services field or equivalent combination of education, training, and program-related experience.Bilingualism (English and Cree) preferred.Experience in methods of group education.Ability to plan, implement, evaluate, and report activities conducted.Ability to respond objectively, remain calm, and deal with crises.Ability to work independently or as a part of a team with minimal direction.Required to offer evening services at least once a week.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of community resources and servicesCounseling and advocacy skillsExperience in event planning and coordinationAbility to build community relationships and engage stakeholdersExpertise in program development and outreach strategiesStrong administrative skills (record-keeping, reporting, evaluation)Awareness of health and safety regulations for events.
